Spain
Spain is located in Southern Europe, with two small enclaves in Nortrh Africa, both bordering Morocco. Spain borders Portugal to the West, Gibraltar to the South, and France and Andorra (a small principality) to the northeast. Spain also includes the Balearic islands in the Mediterranean, and the Canary Islands off the coast of West Africa.Spain's predominant climate is Mediterranean-temperate, with dry summers, and pretty constant temperatures during the winter. The northern Cantabrian coast has a humid, temperate climate, with mild winters, and gentle summers that rarely go over 25º C. In the higher areas of the country, the climate gets rougher, and snow is frequent from the beginning of winter to the end of spring.
Spain is a consitutional democracy, and member of the European Union. The capital city is Madrid, and major cities include Barcelona, Bilbao, Seville, Grenada, Malaga. National languages include Spanish, Basque, Catilan, and Galician. Spain has the 25th highest GDP in the world at $26,320, and the 19th HDI. Religions include Roman Catholics 94%, others 6%, including Islam, Protestantism, and Judaism. (Freedom religion is guaranteed in the constitution).
