Norway is located in Western Scandanavian Sea bordering Sweden, Finland and Russia. Norway also includes the Artic territories of Svalbard and Jan Mayen. The national langauges are Norwegian and Sami. The climate is temperate. In winter in coastal areas, rainfall is frequent and heavy. Inland areas have an Arctic type climate. In winter, the interior highlands have snow and strong winds, and severe frosts. Norway is a constitutional democracy, and remains outside the European Union. The population of Norway is 4.6 milion. The capital city is Oslo, and major cities include Bergen, Stavangar, and Trondheim.
Norway is one of the worlds richest countries, with the world's highest
HDI, and the world's second highest GDP ($42,364). The national currency is the Norsk Krona. Religions include the national church - Evangelical Luteran (86%). Pentacostal 11%, Roman Catholic and other Christian 3%.
